GETTING CLOSER EVERY DAY, BUT STILL A WAYS TO GO

by | Mar 7, 2022 | Uncategorized | 17 comments

I have been unbelievably busy the last two months and have not had the time to post. We have made substantial progress, but there is still a fair amount left to be done. The finish work takes time. I have been on island most of January and February. I did get home for a week for my dad’s 95th birthday and my mother-in- law’s 91st birthday. We are so blessed to have Brigid’s mom and my dad and mom in our lives.

As with prior posts, I will let the pictures tell the story:

My gardener, Boots, said the cisterns needed to be cleaned better and if they were not, he would not drink the water. I spent a good part of a weekend cleaning cisterns with Boots. Got to keep the gardener happy.

POTATOE BAY NEXT TO INDIGO POINT

Beware of a person who has a 45,000 lbs. excavator at his disposal. I had a Komatsu PC200 excavator on site to do grading and remove construction debris. I had the operator go down to the adjoining association beach and scrape back all the stones in one area to try create a sand beach. I had him place a few large rocks in the sand for a person to sit on while he/she puts on fins to snorkel. I also had him create small jetties on other side to help collect sand. This unauthorized work caused a bit of a stir, but people are happy with the end. result. Two weeks ago, without any desire or action on my part, I was elected to be the president of the homeowners’ association. My hope was that this brash beach building project would get me impeached right away. No luck

NEXT WEEK

A 40′ shipping container with all of our furniture has arrived in BVI. The plan is to bring it over on the large barge this coming Saturday to unload and to also finish pouring the rest of the driveway concrete. We will also bring more water trucks over to add to the cisterns and dump trucks to haul more debris away. I hope it will be the last time we need to hire the big barge for an entire day. To be sure, it will be another very busy Saturday.

THIS MONTH

The hope is that the construction will be completed by month’s end. Brigid and Summer will come down to see the finished project in late April. I go back to Phoenix later this month for a week to see my precious wife and daughter and go on a short family ski trip. I can’t wait. I miss being with Brigid and Summer dearly.

All the best/ Hugs/ Love

Dan
